Monofly Dilemma

I have a dilemma. A couple of years ago I adopted a project. It is an airplane called a Temen Monofly. A number of these were built in the 1980’s. It is considered a very strong air-frame. It is a 3-control, high wing monoplane with an open structure similar to a Breezy. I had built most of one in the 80’s but a job transfer forced me to change my plans

When I obtained it I also purchased a used Rotax 277 dual ignition with a belt reduction drive.. When the Monofly was first built it was powered by a Onan two cylinder 4-cycle engine that produced about 18 hp. It’s performance was at best adequate with that engine. The Rotax produces about 28 hp. I hoped this additional power would provide a useful performance boost and still allow it to remain in the ultralight category.

The air-frame was damaged when the hangar it was in collapsed under a heavy snow load. Many parts of it are damaged and will need to be repaired. Others are fine.

I have been collecting materials here and there, wheels, aluminum sheet, rivets and the like, and have a complete set of plans to go with it. Construction is bolted and riveted aluminum with fabric covered wings.

When I retired I had earmarked funds to be used in the reconstruction. These funds however largely disappeared when I had the opportunity to purchase a hangar for a very reasonable price when Mathis Airport closed. The hangar is now located in Cleveland, GA at Mountain Aire Airport and will house my Stits Flut-R-Bug.

I am wondering if any chapter members would be interested in forming a subgroup that would take on the restoration and completion and subsequent flying of this project. If so, I would donate it to the group, share in its financial support and take part in the reconstruction.
